Answer

1. How often are tours given?
Tours start as they fill. The average wait time for a tour to begin is ten minutes.

2. What is the cost?
There is a suggested donation of $3 for adults and $1 for children.

3. Do I need reservations, or can I make advance reservations?
Reservations are required for groups of ten or more and may be made by calling (217) 782-6773. No other reservations are made or required.

4. What are the hours?
The site is open 9 AM until 4 PM Wednesday through Sunday each week. Closed on some holidays, please call in advance (217) 782-6776 or e-mail dthf@warpnet.net to inquire. Please note that the last tour begins with a video at approximately 3:45 PM.

5. How long does the tour last?
The walking tour lasts about an hour. There is a seven minute video prior to the walking tour. Please plan 1.5 hours in your schedule for your total visitation time.

6. Are photographs allowed?
Photographs may be taken outside only. Cameras are not allowed on tour and may be checked at the carriage house.

7. Do you have a gift shop?
The Sumac Shop, located in the Carriage House has a nice selection of books, gifts, reproductions and souvenirs. You can also shop online at www.sumacshop.com however the shop carries a number of unique items not available online.

8. Can purchases in the shop be shipped?
Everything for sale in our shop can be shipped, simply ask the staff to ship your purchases.

9. Is there parking at the site?
Parking is available in the site lot off of Cook Street just west of the YMCA building. Drive west past the Y, over the railroad tracks and turn left into our lot. Parking is free. Also see Map .

10. Is the site available for rental?
Due to severe budget cuts, the Dana-Thomas House is not available for non-site related special usage at this time.

11. Can I contact the site directly?
The site is staffed seven days per week except holidays. The number is (217) 782-6776
