AIA 150 – America’s Favorite Architecture Coming to Springfield
The Dana-Thomas House Foundation and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Illinois Springfield Section will host the AIA 150 Exhibit in the National City Bank lobby during the month of March. Located at 1 North Old State Capitol Plaza in Springfield, the exhibit will be available for viewing at no charge during regular bank hours March 1-27.
Architecture is the most public of the arts yet is often judged on the most personal level. The projects featured in this exhibition were chosen in a public poll conducted by the American Institute of Architects and Harris Interactive on the occasion of the AIA’s 150th Anniversary. The 150 works of architecture – buildings, bridges, monuments and memorials – in this exhibition represent some of the best of America’s architectural heritage. When people are asked to select their favorites, they choose buildings and designs that symbolize innovation and the spirit of their country and community. Perhaps more important, they choose structures that hold a place in their hearts and minds.
